Privacy Policy
Effective date: 06/16/2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Russell E. Travers (“we,” “us,” “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit russtravers.com (the “Site”). It applies to visitors worldwide. We are the data controller for this Site. For any privacy question or request, contact us at russtravers@gmail.com,
1. Information we collect
- Information you give us (contact form): Our contact form is built with SureForms. When you submit it, we collect the first name, last name, and email address you provide, along with your message. These submissions are stored in our own website database.
- Analytics data: We use Independent Analytics, which runs on our own server. It uses no cookies, stores no personal data, anonymizes visitor IP addresses, and sends nothing to external servers. It produces only aggregate statistics (such as page views and the general country/city of visitors) that cannot identify you.
- Server logs: Our hosting provider automatically records standard access logs — including your IP address, the pages you request, and timestamps — for security and to operate the Site. These logs are retained for about 7 days and then deleted.
- Google Fonts: The Site displays fonts served by Google. When a page loads, your browser requests the font from Google, which means your IP address is sent to Google to deliver it.
2. How we use your information and our legal bases
- To respond to your contact-form message — legal basis: your consent in submitting the form, and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries.
- To keep the Site secure and operational (server logs, security tools) — legal basis: our legitimate interest in protecting the Site.
- To understand and improve the Site through aggregate, non-identifying analytics — legal basis: our legitimate interest. (No personal data is processed for this.)
3. Cookies
The Site uses only functional/necessary cookies required for WordPress, basic security, and (if enabled) cookie-consent preferences to work. We do not use advertising, marketing, or cross-site tracking cookies.
4. Who we share information with
We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising. Information may be handled by:
- Our hosting provider, which stores and serves the Site and keeps the short-term server logs described above.
- Google, which receives your IP address when serving fonts (see Section 1).
- Amazon, only if you choose to follow the link to the book on Amazon — anything you do there is governed by Amazon’s own privacy policy, not ours. (This is an ordinary link, not an affiliate link.)
We may also disclose information if required by law.
5. International data transfers
If you are located outside the United States, note that the Site and its data are handled in the United States. Where your IP address is transmitted to Google to serve fonts, that transfer relies on Google’s own data-transfer safeguards.
6. Data retention
- Contact submissions: stored in our database and kept for 12 months, after which they are deleted. (You can configure SureForms to auto-delete entries after a set number of days.)
- Server logs: about 7 days.
- Analytics: aggregate, non-identifying data only; no personal data is retained.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your information;
- restrict or object to certain processing, and (where applicable) data portability;
- withdraw consent at any time;
- (EU/UK) lodge a complaint with your data protection authority;
- (California/US) know what we collect, request deletion or correction, and not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.
Because we do not sell or share personal information, there is no sale/share to opt out of. To exercise any right, contact us at russtravers@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
8. Security
We use a WordPress security plugin and standard measures to protect the Site. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to safeguard your information.
9. Children’s privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Effective date” above shows when it was last revised.
